The QCon Pro is a USB-MIDI control surface designed to control most DAW software with tactile inputs rather than a keyboard and mouse. The QCon Pro has 8 touch-sensitive motorized faders, a full illuminated LCD scribble strip for track names and parameter values, a full LED time display in both bars/beats and SMPTE time, and a whole array of customization and mapping options to suit almost any software.
It has 9 touch-sensitive 100mm ALPS motorized faders(8 channels plus the master), and 8 encoder knobs with push-reset for dynamic parameter control of tracks and plugins. Every channel of control also features its own Select, Mute, Solo, and Record buttons, and the Track- and Bank-Shift buttons allow you to skip up or down the virtual mixer by one or eight tracks at a time. The ever-useful ‘Flip’ feature allows users to switch controls between the faders and encoder knobs for more detailed tactile control of all parameters and levels, while the presets and customized DAW controls will allow for automation, marker, punch-in/out, plugin, and full transport control. The metal jog wheel allows for fast scanning through a timeline view, while the arrow and select buttons allow for clip selection and launching in grid-based DAW software such as Ableton Live.
The QCon Pro has several built-in presets for some of the most popular DAWs on the market, though it will work with far more than the available presets. The built-in presets include Steinberg Cubase and Nuendo, Magix Samplitude, Apple Logic Pro, Avid Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Cockos Reaper, and Presonus Studio One. As with most Icon MIDI controllers, every control on the QCon Pro can be custom-mapped by the user using the included iMap software to suit most DAW software on the market. The QCon Pro uses Mackie Control and HUI protocols for presets and automatic mapping, and can be configured for general MIDI values as well. The QCon Pro is capable of hosting the Umix Satellite 1008 audio interface, turning this control surface into a complete DAW interface/controller combo. The QCon Pro includes a power supply, USB cable, and vinyl overlays to label button functions for the built-in presets.
The Qcon EX is an 8-channel USB-MIDI control surface designed to extend the Qcon Pro with 8 extra channels of faders, encoders, meters, and scribble strips. This control surface has built-in mappings for Mackie Control and HUI protocols, and every control can be custom-mapped by the user with the included iMap software.
Sized to fit alongside the QCon Pro, this extension features 8 motorized 100mm ALPS faders, 8 push-to-reset rotary encoders with a full-width backlit LCD scribble strip. As with the QCon Pro, each of the 8 channel strips has its own Select, Mute, Solo, and Record buttons. The QCon EX features software presets to work with Steinberg Cubase and Nuendo, Magix Samplitude, Apple Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Avid Pro Tools, Cockos Reaper, and PreSonus Studio One. It also includes a User-Defined mode to map general MIDI values to all surface controls.
While it is intended to work as an extension to a master QCon Pro console, it is possible to use the QCon EX for standalone control of a virtual mixer or other MIDI-compatible software. Unlike the QCon Pro, however, it does not have its own function controls, time display, or the track- and bank-shift buttons which allow moving along the virtual mixer. Each QCon EX can be labeled as extension 1, 2, or 3 on startup for easy identification in DAW software. As an extension for the QCon Pro, up to 3 extensions are supported for a total of 32 channels of control. The QCon EX includes a power supply and USB cable.
The QCon Lite is a basic DAW controller which provides automatic mapping and single-channel control for most popular DAW software. This compact controller is completely bus-powered, and features a single 100mm ALPS motorized fader, a large jog wheel for quick scrubbing through the track or zooming on the timeline, four push-to-reset encoder knobs, a 4-channel track/parameter LCD display, and all manner of transport and function controls for various programs.
The QCon Lite has built-in mappings to work automatically with Apple Logic Pro, Avid Pro Tools, Steinberg Cubase or Nuendo, or Ableton Live. The QCon Lite provides full HUI or Mackie Control integration with this software allowing control of many track functions and plugins or channel parameters. Other software can also be supported by a User-Defined mode which allows the user to custom map any general MIDI values as needed to all of the surface’s controls. The QCon Lite is provided with a USB cable and vinyl overlays to label button functions for the built-in presets.
The AIO6 is a 24 bit/192kHz, 6-in/6-out USB recording interface and USB-MIDI control surface. The AIO6 front panel has two XLR/¼” TRS combo jack microphone/instrument inputs with preamp, gain control, headphone monitor selector, and switchable +48v phantom power. There are also two line-level ¼” TRS inputs on the back panel, as well as 4 line-level ¼” TRS outputs. A pair of RCA connections is provided for S/PDIF in and out, and dual 5-pin connectors provide a full 16 channels of MIDI input and output.
The AIO6 not only provides a superb audio interface solution, but it also acts as a full DAW or recording control surface. This console allows control of 8 channels at a time, split between two layers. Each channel features a 60mm level fader, a rotating encoder for pan or other DAW parameters, and per-channel Mute, Solo, and Record buttons. There is a full set of transport controls, including Play, Stop, Pause, Forward, Rewind, and Loop. The AIO6 allows for two layers to control the software using either Mackie Control or HUI protocols, while the other two layers can be custom-mapped by the user to send any general MIDI needed for plugins or external devices. For software not supported by any of the mapping presets, all four layers can be custom-mapped as general MIDI controls to work with any software supporting MIDI control mapping. The AIO6 has selectable presets for Cubase or Nuendo, Logic Pro, Live, Samplitude, or Pro Tools.
